Importance of Social Media in Organizations

The following post is by Ed Koury
The importance of social media for organizations is that in today’s world it is essential in order to succeed. Social media marketing is key in today’s successful business world. The best way to start out a small campaign is to base it around the area the organization is located in. Then build upwards and expand to surrounding cities and states until you have reached your goal. There are certain steps and ways to go about starting a social media campaign for a company.

First you must provide value by sharing some kind of knowledge or service to the general public. With social networking and media marketing it is very important to always keep everything up to date. When a visitor comes to your page you want to make sure they aren’t reading something from months prior. The public will only want to check out a social media page if it is something that interests them or relates to. Another helpful tool is to have services and merchandise available on the social media page. It will attract the visitor to want to promote or be a part of the organization.

Blogging is essential to any social media campaign because it gives someone’s perspective and thoughts towards a certain subject. Sharing knowledge is what social media is all about and through blogging we gain this. Bloggers have a responsibility to keep the public informed on what’s going on within a certain organization and company services that may be offered.

Receiving any kind of feedback is always helpful to an organization because it lets the company know how they are perceived by the public. Feedback is important to every company that allows it because it shows where the company is and where they are headed with their customers. Allow feedback to be forwarded through forums or emails so that everyone will know what is “hot or not”, and by doing this the organization will know which demographics to promote towards and what interest who.

Involving games or contest is a great way to get exposure and engage the brand with the public eye. Having that, allows the visitor to test knowledge and create competition. Everyone loves a good competition and allowing customers to get engaged on one of the sites put up by the organization also allows them to think about the company and tell their friends about it. Word of mouth spreads about the page they went to that had this great game, after they come to the site; chances are they are going to check out the rest of the social media page. Once going to the social media page, they will want to follow links to the actual organization page.

Social media is essential in today’s marketing world and if a company does not engage in this revolution, they are more than likely to fail. Success is proven through these methods and by seeking what the consumer actually wants in front of them will true results be shown.
